FY 27 Budget
IMPORTANT Budget Information Communication – November 11, 2025
Dear EPS Community,
It was a pleasure seeing many of you at the Easton Town Meeting last evening. As we have been sharing, the budget process for next year has begun, and it is going to be another extremely difficult year with more cuts to the school department as a result of the ongoing structural revenue deficit of the Town of Easton. It is far too early to share any details in terms of what those reductions will be as we await state and federal information as well as important cost drivers such as the new health care rates. We will be sharing information as we receive it.
However, it was concerning to hear so many families and citizens were unaware of the impacts this year and the effects that students and staff are already seeing due to the cuts that happened at the end of last year and with the defeat of the debt-exclusion override. For that reason, I am again including a copy of the presentation that was shared at several public meetings of the School Committee, Joint Finance/Select Board/School Committee, and PASE last year. This presentation is from April 3, 2025 and was updated on May 7, 2025. The recording of this meeting (and others) is available on ECAT if you would like to hear further explanation of each slide.

We feel as though it is critically important for all families to be aware of what has already been cut as we continue the budget process and announce what additional reductions will be made in the coming months. As always, if you have any questions, please contact us and/or attend the publicly posted School Committee meetings.
We appreciate your continued engagement and support as we navigate these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lisha Cabral

Promoting A Sustainable Easton
As the budget documents here show, the coming year is going to be a tough one. Following years of high inflation and two decades of minimal increases to state funding for education and government services, Easton faces a difficult budget in fiscal year 2026 likely to cut education and public service levels in our community. Voters showed their concern for the fiscal challenges Easton faces at the May 2024 Town Meeting by establishing Promoting A Sustainable Easton.
This 19 member committee of Easton residents, educators, public safety personnel, town and school leaders is tasked with reviewing Easton’s operating position and making recommendations back to the Select Board, School Committee, and ultimately Easton voters on the best path forward for a sustainable budget.
PASE must complete their recommendations by March 2025. They meet publicly and have a detailed website covering their work and your ability to get involved at www.easton.ma.us/pase
