EASTON — Superintendent Lisha Cabral is pleased to share that Oliver Ames High School students have completed the school’s first dual enrollment French IV honor’s class in partnership with Middlesex Community College (MCC).
Oliver Ames partnered this school year with MCC to offer a new dual enrollment program that allowed students to earn college credits that will transfer to state schools and some private colleges after graduation.
The new program was fully funded by the South Shore Early College Consortium.
This year, students Logan Nason, Caitlin Peloquin, Z Leach, Abigail Holmes, Brynn Cushing, Stella Zachos, Liliana Kerr and Taylor Lawless completed World Language teacher Patrick Sharkey’s French IV honors class, earning three transferable college credits.
Currently there are two dual enrollment courses offered through MCC including French IV and French V. Honors Chemistry will be offered for the 2024-2025 school year. Classes are offered at no cost to students.
In addition to the MCC courses, Oliver Ames English department will be offering a senior English course, “Academic Writing,” through Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA) for three college credits, starting in the fall.
As part of the SUPA program, English teacher Jennifer Tantillo will participate in a week-long training session at Syracuse this summer.
There is some cost associated with taking the Academic Writing course for college credit, and financial aid will be available to students.
