EASTON — Superintendent Lisha Cabral is pleased to announce the appointments of six staff members within the district.
Sam Cederbaum
Sam Cederbaum, current Principal of Parkview School, has been appointed as the Principal of Blanche A. Ames Elementary School.
This year will be Cederbaum’s fifth year as principal at Parkview Elementary School. He will transition to the Principal role at Blanche A. Ames when the building opens, which is anticipated in January 2023.
“I am excited for the opportunities that will come with the merging of our three schools into the Blanche A. Ames Elementary School,” Cederbaum said. “Our students will continue to receive excellent educational programming while benefitting from the design elements of a state-of-the-art facility. The possibilities for our littlest learners will be endless!”
Prior to working in Easton, Cederbaum spent 10 years as a teacher for grades two, three and four in Wrentham, and five years as a principal within the Douglas Public Schools.
During his junior and senior years at Stonehill College, Cederbaum was a part-time paraprofessional and a first grade long-term substitute at Parkview. He returned to Parkview 16 years later when he accepted the Principal position for the 2018-2019 school year.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Stonehill College and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Fitchburg State University.
Erin Finn
Erin Finn has been appointed as the Assistant Principal for the three current elementary schools, and will transition to the Assistant Principal at the Blanche A. Ames Elementary School upon its opening.
Most recently, Finn was the Assistant Principal of Donovan Elementary in Randolph. Previously, she worked as a Vice Principal in the Fall River Public Schools and the Supervisor of Special Education for Southbridge Public Schools. She has also held positions in the Shrewsbury and Boston Public Schools.
Finn has extensive experience supervising special education programming. She has also worked within the hiring and interviewing process of paraprofessionals, teachers and school staff, and facilitated staff training and professional development on a variety of topics.
“I am honored to be selected as the assistant principal of Blanche A. Ames Elementary,” Finn said. “This is a fantastic year to be a Tiger Cub as we move into our new state-of-the-art building, which is going to create so many A+ opportunities for our littlest learners. I can’t wait to show my Stripes as a Tiger Cub!”
Finn holds a bachelor’s degree in educational psychology from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania where she also completed a minor in dance. She holds a master’s degree in severe special education from Simmons College. From American International College, she earned a certificate in advanced graduate studies in Administration – Principal/Assistant Principal for K-6.
Ryan Gordy
Ryan Gordy has been appointed as the new Athletic Director at Oliver Ames High School.
Gordy is the former Assistant Athletic Director and District Wellness Coordinator for the Canton Public Schools. He also coached the Varsity Boys Basketball team for 10 years at Canton High School and was named the 2019 MIAA Wellness Coordinator of the Year in Massachusetts. Prior to his career in the Canton Public Schools, he worked as a wellness teacher at Blackstone-Millville High School.
In his previous roles, Gordy has experience in supervision and evaluation, coordinating professional development programs and working closely with central office administrators, principals, school committee members and the community. As a wellness teacher in Canton, he also taught an honors-level leadership course designed to help students increase self-worth, emotional intelligence and situational awareness.
“Oliver Ames athletics have always represented excellence through proud history and traditions. Growing up in Mansfield and spending most of my career in Canton, I have always watched OA from afar with so much respect. I am Hockomock League through and through, and Oliver Ames felt like a great fit,” said Gordy. “The community and the people are the reason I am excited to work here. I look forward to serving athletes, coaches, and the entire Easton community.”
Gordy holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Bridgewater State College, as well as a master’s degree in teacher education from West Virginia University. He is pursuing a graduate certificate in leadership development from Providence College, which he expects to receive this year.
Dan Mastrogiacomo
Dan Mastrogiacomo has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal of Oliver Ames High School.
Mastrogiacomo has served as the Assistant Principal of Hull High School since 2018. He was previously a mathematics teacher at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. In his previous roles, he monitored student behavior and attendance, communicated with parents and guardians, worked with school scheduling, assisted with hiring, led professional development for faculty, mentored new educators and developed and implemented curriculum.
“I am thrilled to be joining the team at Oliver Ames and begin the next chapter of my educational journey with such an outstanding group of talented educators. I am truly passionate about education and helping all students succeed through developing authentic and meaningful relationships,” said Mastrogiacomo. “I look forward to learning more about the culture of the school, meeting with and getting to know students, staff and members of the community, and working together to continue providing the students of Oliver Ames a top-notch education in an always-changing educational landscape.”
Mastrogiacomo holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Bridgewater State University where he also minored in secondary education. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Fitchburg State University.
Melissa Medeiros
Melissa Medeiros has been hired as the district’s first Director of Human Resources.
Medeiros has been the Personnel Administrator for the Town of Dartmouth since 2013. She was the first Personnel Administrator for the town, developing the Personnel Department from the ground up and serving 500 town employees. Previously, she was the Human Resources and Diversity Administrator for Somerville Public Schools, and held roles in the Town of Braintree and Dartmouth Public Schools.
Medeiros has extensive experience in policy and procedure administration, recruitment and hiring practices, personnel development, performance management, learning and development, employee retention and conflict management. While with the Town of Dartmouth she also led the town’s first wellness program, bringing awareness of a healthy lifestyle to employees.
“I am very honored and excited to be the first Director of Human Resources for Easton Public Schools,” Medeiros said. “I look forward to serving the Easton staff and community and am excited to build a strong, engaging, and most importantly welcoming Human Resources Department.”
Medeiros holds an associates degree in office administration from Bristol Community College and a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Bridgewater State University.
Ann Weintrob
Ann Weintrob has been appointed as the Curriculum and ELL Coordinator.
Weintrob has been the Principal of Center School since 2013. She has been an educator within the Easton Public Schools since 1994, previously serving as a reading specialist, kindergarten teacher and third grade teacher at Moreau Hall.
While with the district, she has participated in the development of the current Strategic Plan, led the School Council in the development of the annual School Improvement Plan, facilitated curriculum writing professional development workshops and supported the development of adult ELL evening courses.
“I’m excited to take on the challenge of the newly created role of Director of Curriculum, as well as the English Language Education Director for the Easton Public Schools,” said Weintrob. “I am honored to guide and support Easton educators as we work together to meet the educational needs of all of our students.”
Weintrob holds a bachelor’s degree in politics from Saint Anslem College in New Hampshire and a Master of Education in reading from Salem State University.
