Easton Public Schools Receive a Best Communities for Music Education Award

EASTON — Superintendent Lisha Cabral and Easton Public Schools (EPS) Music Department Chair Jeffrey Benson are proud to announce Easton Public Schools has received a Best Communities for Music Education Award from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) foundation.

EPS is one of 16 school districts across Massachusetts to be included in the BCME list. Now in its 24th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts nationwide that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

“It’s an honor to have our Easton community recognized by the NAMM Foundation,” Superintendent Cabral said. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our music educators, students and families who understand the value of music education and its impact on student success. The award inspires us to continue our commitment to providing a well-rounded education that includes music for all students.”

“Receiving a Best Communities for Music Education Award from the NAMM Foundation is a significant milestone accomplishment for not only the Department, but the entire Easton community,” said Benson. “All of the teachers in the department certainly deserve recognition for their tireless work and dedication, particularly for maintaining our offerings through the last three years during the COVID pandemic. Our students also deserve credit because NAMM doesn’t only look at the awards the department wins at the upper levels but at our participation numbers all around at all levels! From students opting into beginner band and orchestra in fourth grade, right through to middle school and high school ensembles and classroom courses, our elective enrollment must be at a high enough level to be considered. We are so proud of the diversity of our offerings and the well-rounded nature of our program! I couldn’t be more proud of the work that our teachers and students have done over the last few years that earned them this select honor.”

The Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) program is a signature program of The NAMM Foundation that recognizes and celebrates schools and districts for their support and commitment to music education and efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education.
