Easton Public Schools to Host Internet Safety Presentations for Students and Community

EASTON – Superintendent Lisha Cabral is pleased to announce that the district will host keynote speaker Katie Greer for multiple presentations within the district to educate students and parents about internet safety.

A parent presentation will be held Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Oliver Ames High School Auditorium. No registration is required.

The presentation will help parents understand how they can protect and guide their kids on the internet and social media. Topics will include cyberbullying and the latest technology and social app trends; safety and suggested restrictions and rules; advice for having conversations with kids to foster a positive and safe online experience; privacy, including proper settings, location services and the importance of regular privacy checks; and smartphones and age.

Earlier that day, Greer will hold three age-appropriate presentations for students at Easton Middle School, and a presentation for fifth grade students at Richardson Olmsted.

“Digital safety, cyberbullying and online privacy are very timely and important topics, and we are fortunate to have Katie Greer coming to present to our students and families,” Superintendent Cabral said. “Ms. Greer has significant and valuable expertise in online safety and her presentation will give parents tools to help support and protect their children.”

Greer is the former Director of Internet Safety with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. She later worked with the Massachusetts State Police as an Intelligence Analyst. She has since created her own approach to internet safety that realistically considers the appeal of technology for people of all ages. Her goal is for every household in America to have the education and tools to manage technology in a healthy way. Learn more about her at klgreer.com.
