EASTON — Easton Public Schools is proud to share that seven students at Oliver Ames High School were celebrated for their commitments to become educators during the Future Teacher Signing Day Ceremony held on Tuesday, May 19, at the Oliver Ames Library.
In a similar manner to signing ceremonies held for student-athletes committing to their college of choice, the seven students were applauded as they announced their decisions to become educators, with most of them planning to attend Bridgewater State University.
The event included remarks from school and district leaders, as well as the ceremonial signing of letters of intent by each student as they shared their future plans and aspirations in the field of education.
Superintendent Dr. Lisha Cabral and Principal Kelly Cavanaugh congratulated the future educators for their achievements at Oliver Ames High School, wishing all of the college-bound seniors success as they continue their academic and professional journeys.
“These students have distinguished themselves through their leadership, compassion and commitment to serving others,” said Principal Cavanaugh. “We are incredibly proud to celebrate their decision to pursue careers in education and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on future students and communities.”
“This ceremony recognized Oliver Ames seniors who have demonstrated a passion for education and the potential to positively impact future generations of students through teaching and mentorship,” said Superintendent Cabral. “Public education plays a vital role in shaping the future, and it is inspiring to see these students answer the call to become educators.”
The seven Oliver Ames High School seniors recognized at the Future Teacher Signing Day Ceremony included the following:
- Sean Brophy — Bridgewater State University
- Audrey Brunelle — Bridgewater State University
- Eden Clewer — Gordon College
- Ava D’Arcy — University of Alabama
- Josephine Dubeau — Bridgewater State University
- Isabelle Gauthier — Bridgewater State University
- Audrey LaFleur — Bridgewater State University
The ceremony program included a welcome from Susan Mancuso, Director of School Counseling, followed by the introduction of students, the signing of letters of intent and student remarks. Additional remarks were provided by Principal Cavanaugh, Superintendent Cabral and Oliver Ames teacher Betti Almeida.
“Easton Public Schools is proud to have helped guide and support these students as they begin this meaningful next chapter,” said Superintendent Cabral. “Their dedication and enthusiasm reflect the strong culture of support and academic excellence at Oliver Ames High School. We look forward to all they will accomplish in the years ahead.”
