The Oliver Ames High School Counseling program supports this high school’s mission of excellence and equity in education. The School Counseling Department will assist students in selecting a challenging academic program which will enable him/her to experience success in making post-secondary plans and decisions. Further, the department is committed to helping each student feel safe and supported in an environment that is challenging and positive.
As a result of participating in the school counseling program at Oliver Ames High School, all students will acquire attitudes, skills, and knowledge as a result of their involvement in the following developmental areas:
Academic:
All students will develop a flexible academic plan which includes course selections and complements the student’s learning styles and career plans. Students will have a sound knowledge of post-secondary options and will understand the relationship between their academic planning and career preparation.
College/Career:
All students will have knowledge of their personal strengths and interests and an awareness of the world of work. Students will see the connection between course selection, school achievement, and potential careers.
Personal/Social:
All students will develop age-appropriate personal/social skills and qualities that foster a positive work ethic and healthy relationships. Students will be able to work well in groups, resolve conflicts, set goals and develop consensus-building and decision-making skills.
My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) is a structured, student-driven, college, career, and civic readiness framework designed to ensure every student at Oliver Ames High School, grade 9 through grade 12, gains the knowledge, skills, and experiences in personal, social, emotional, and behavioral development, career development, and academic and technical learning to navigate an individual path to success.
The MyCAP process engages students in a continuum of learning grounded in the discovery of individual interests, skills, and talents. The process allows students to be the drivers of their education as they navigate career exploration aligned with personal interests, skills, and talents, choose courses that are aligned with both their personal attributes and career interests, and identify the personal, social, emotional, and behavioral skills needed to create and implement their individual plan for postsecondary success.
In addition to the MyCAP process created at the school level, MyCAP requires a tool for individual student development. The tool (Naviance) provides a place for students to access a range of self-exploration, career exploration, and future planning tools and strategies that capture student growth and development in an online portfolio.

Drivers License Documentation – What do I need?
If you are going to get your permit/driver’s license and/or Real ID at the Mass RMV or AAA, you will need documentation from school, specifically you need these 2 items: A letter stating you are a student, your birthdate, and where you live. An official copy of your current school transcript.
How do I get this information? Email Ms. Patukonis, the Guidance Secretary tpatukonis@easton.k12.ma.us and she will prepare this information for you and contact you when it is available. During the summer, please contact the Main Office at 508-230-3210 Please allow a minimum of 48 hours for this information to be produced for you. Please do not request it on the day you are scheduled to go to the RMV

All courses at Oliver Ames are designed to prepare students to successfully transition to a variety of post graduate options including college, military, trade school, and the workforce and we want to provide students with the opportunity to explore different interest areas while in high school. Oliver Ames is committed to helping all of our students and families navigate the work of preparing for this ever changing world by helping you better understand how personal interests and skills can be linked to the courses we offer. In addition to this, we link the experiences they have in their courses to different college majors or career opportunities. Below you will see our College and Career Connections diagrams which tie major career clusters and college majors to the various courses and clubs offered at Oliver Ames.
For example, if a student has an interest in business as a college major and career field, they may consider enrolling in Accounting, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or Senior Project to explore the field to see if these experiences strengthen or lessen their interest in the field. We encourage students and parents/guardians to discuss how the courses and clubs they participate in at Oliver Ames connect to various college major and career opportunities.
