Easton Public Schools Invites Community to Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House for New Blanche A. Ames Elementary

EASTON — Superintendent Lisha Cabral is pleased to announce that the district will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house this month to celebrate the newly completed Blanche A. Ames Elementary School.

WHEN:

Sunday, Aug. 20. Ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. and open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE:

Blanche A. Ames Elementary School, 50 Spooner St., North Easton

WHAT:

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the new school, with a secondary “children’s ribbon cutting” to immediately follow. Several elected officials and town leaders will be present, along with district and school officials.

Following the ceremony, an open house will be held with activities for all ages. A touch-a-truck style display will be available, and the school’s playgrounds will be open for use. Additional children’s activities, such as face painting and a balloon artist, will also be present.

Cornhole and other lawn games, coordinated by the Easton Community Recreation Department, will be set up for families. Food trucks and refreshments will also be available for purchase.

Guided tours of the new school will be given. Tours will be spaced out and anyone interested in a tour can join a group anytime during the open house between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“We are excited for the opportunity to share this wonderful community space with residents who so generously supported this project,” Superintendent Cabral said. “This building and grounds will be a lasting and valuable resource to the entire Easton community.”

All Easton residents are welcome and do not need to have children in the public school system.

The event will be held rain or shine. If rain is forecast for Aug. 20, the ceremony will be held in the gymnasium and tours of the school will still take place.

“We are eager to welcome the community to our new school building and look forward to sharing the space and all it has to offer with our students and their families,” Principal Sam Cederbaum said.

Added School Planning Committee Chair and School Committee member Jackie Weisman, “This was truly a labor of love and we are so proud of our beautiful new school. We are grateful for the support of our community throughout this project and are excited to share it with all our families.”
