Easton Public Schools to Host 2023 Special Olympics Next Week

EASTON — Superintendent Lisha Cabral is pleased to share that dozens of Easton Public Schools students will participate in the district’s 2023 Special Olympics.

WHEN:

Friday, May 5, from 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. 

(The rain date is May 12.)

WHERE:

Oliver Ames High School Track and Field, 100 Lothrop St.

WHAT:

Easton Public Schools students from kindergarten through high school will participate in a series of Special Olympics activities during this event. 

The events will include long jump, javelin, a softball throw, an obstacle course and a wheelchair-assisted walk/run. There will also be a photo station and snack station. 

Approximately 40 students are expected to participate. Families, staff and students district-wide are also invited to attend the event in support of the student-athletes. The event is closed to the general public.

The event is coordinated by the Easton Public Schools Special Education Department. This will be the district’s second annual Special Olympics.

There will be also be a parade, athlete’s oath and medal ceremony.
